Healthy Watersheds Consortium Grant Program

The Healthy Watersheds Consortium Grant Program (HWC) was conceived by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), managed by the Endowment, and funded by these two and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).

About the Healthy Watersheds Consortium

HWC, launched in 2015 and completed in 2022, promotes the protection and stewardship of high-quality watersheds in support of the EPA’s Clean Water Act 303(d) Vision to prevent future impairments in healthy waters. The watersheds covered by the HWC have many of their services and systems intact; however, protecting them from degradation lessens the need for state or local future regulation and costly restoration expenses.

This partnership that included the Endowment, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) concluded fall 2022.

The Endowment engaged Hardner & Gullison, LLP, to conduct a third-party assessment of the Healthy Watersheds Consortium Grant Program.  Their final report can be found here.
